Preservatives

Ethoxyquin - A manufactured chemical animal feed preservative that is also used in making rubber. It is listed as a pesticide by the Department of Agriculture, and has been banned from use in human food.
Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) - OSHA lists BHA and BHT as chemical hazards in the laboratory and have been linked to various forms of cancer, most commonly kidney, liver, and bladder cancer.
Propylene Glycol - This compound inhibits unwanted bacteria growth in dog food packaging. It is a poisonous ingredient used to formulate antifreeze.
Potassium Sorbate - A commonly used preservative that is chemically similar to fat.
Sucrose - A common table sugar.
Propyl Gallate - Used to retard spoilage and is suspected of causing liver damage.
